Tree removal estimate template
A tree service estimate should price each tree on its own line with its species, size and how it comes down, then say what happens to the wood, the brush and the stump. This free template adds access, lawn protection and permit sections, with a two-tree example where stump grinding is an add-on.

Method words homeowners understand
A one-word method on each line explains most price differences:
- Fell Dropped in one piece where there is open space.
- Climb and rig Taken down in sections with ropes because something is underneath.
- Lift Worked from a bucket truck or aerial lift.
- Crane Pieces lifted out over a house or structure; the crane is a separate cost.
Tree estimate mistakes
- Wood and brush left unsaid Customers have strong views on firewood and chips; settle it on the estimate.
- Stump bundled into removal Grinding takes another machine and visit; give it its own line.
- No access note A narrow gate or a soft lawn changes equipment and time.
Tree estimate template questions
- What does DBH mean on a tree estimate?
- Diameter at breast height: the trunk diameter measured about four and a half feet above the ground. It is a common way to describe tree size on an estimate because it is easy to measure and relates to how much wood comes down.
- Why list each tree separately?
- Because each tree is priced on its own risk and method. A pine that can be felled into open lawn costs far less than a dead ash over a shed. Separate lines also let the customer remove one tree now and another later.
- Is this template free?
- Yes, with no sign-up. Read it here, download the PDF or copy it.
- Can I add stump grinding as an option?
- The template has an optional stump line. In Scopie that line can be marked optional, so the homeowner ticks it on the emailed estimate and sees the new total before signing.
